I lost the timestamp but that's some crazy good detail: When Bettel tried to die by on the green fire while holding the lantern, he actually went unconscious which is the trigger for entering the matrix/dream world/simulation which trapped himself in there like the owl people, so when he then died in the matrix he actually died instead of coming out of it. He didn't notice at the time because he was trying to reset, but that exact scenario was explained in a reel he found much later. I wonder if instead of jumping into the water, if he went to an area w/ an alarm if that would have worked or not? or what if they grab you after dropping your lantern-thing?
