3:13:33 there was a while where my unit was temporarily stationed away from our base but within the same state (being vague for op sec) and we got a stipend for food because they recognized we wouldn't be able to cook at home during that time. I saw a bunch of airmen drink that money away, but more spent it all on uber eats and stuff. I couldn't believe how expensive it was. Though there was one time where they got lost and tried to deliver on our runway and almost got shot, so that was entertaining. What I did instead was my wife and I cooked a bunch of food before I left, packaged it and I took it in a cooler with me and just ate that, then every two weeks or so when we would come back to our actual base I would come back home to restock and do it again. Between the stipend and my usual pay I was able to save up almost a whole year's salary while we were out there. Which came in handy when I got sick and had to fight with the VA when I got out while not being able to work. I got it pretty much sorted out now but I can't imagine going into that situation from living paycheck to paycheck.
