I'm not good at Japanese but I will do my best. I tend to paraphrase many things. Feel free to correct me if I made some mistranslation. First of all, congratulations Seshima for being the first AniMare member to do collab with the two newest VOMS members Miu and Ryugon. The game they were playing consisted of taking turn picking random elementary school level question from random mock exam site and let the other two answer them to earn 1 point. Unfortunately, I don't understand most of the question, but there was this one gem of an English question. 53:38 Seishima's question: “She uses pan to make pancakes.” Please translate this sentence into Japanese. Miu's answer: If you don't eat bread, then eat pancake instead. Gon's answer: She makes pancake with kettle/oven (before correcting it to frying pan with hints from other two.) What's so interesting is that this question might seem easy at first glance with obvious hint such as “pan” and “pancake” which can be directly translate to Japanese with katakana, but it's more difficult for Japanese because: The word Pan can mean both “Bread” (borrowed from Freanch word) and “Frying Pan” in Japanese. Like what Miu did in her answer. Japanese people tend to use “hotcake” and “pancake” interchangeably. Gon kept pondering about the actual meaning of the word “pan”, said said he can cook his pizza with kettle, and it turns out he wasn't sure what “pancake” looks like and almost mistook pancake for cupcake. www Anyway it was a fun collab and looking forward to more in the future.
