Laura was living in the normal Silent Hill, she didn't experience the paranormal version of it that James was experiencing. It's kinda like a sentient/haunted town that shows people with guilt a personal hell version of it.

Congrats on finishing SH2! It’s such a deep, emotional story with so many subtle details. I highly recommend playing it again solo when you can. That way you can fully enjoy the story and atmosphere and understand it better
