Congrats on beating Silent hill 2. One of my favorite horror games, not just for the psychological horror, but the story, and what Silent hill is, and how it's diffrent for everyone depending on their sins. The game's story is very thought provoking, asking the players "was James justified?" and "what would you do in their situation", or even what would your silent hill look like? Anyway, terrific watch along. The commentary with Gigi made this an enjoyable watch, even though I've already played the origional game back in the day. It's still fun to watch others expereince it for the first time. Guess the only thing that's left for silent hill 2 is to see if they release the DLC like they did the first one, going into Maria's backstory and who she is. Will have to wait and see.

The friendship between Fauna and Gigi is honestly really inspiring! I loved the way you two tried to figure out the meaning of the game as the ending came closer. This was also my first time watching anything Silent Hill 2 content and this game just seams like a beautifully written game with amazing sound design! Glad these two introduced me to it!

I'm so glad you got to finish another masterpiece of a game this time with Gigi. Seeing Gigi making you laugh during a tense scene, getting along and can't stop yapping it's so fun to watch and listen to. I'll forever remember these fond memories of both of your adventure.

1:38:40 There was actually a Silent Hill game on the Wii, called Shattered Memories. Because flashlight was motion controlled, they used that to track what sort of things you spent time looking at. This not only directed the plot, but also changed the enemy designs as the game progressed

Wow this was such an incredibly well-crafted game, I couldn't get over the sound design and the body animation. Thank you! I'm really glad you two played it! The fruit punch made this game all the more sweet

Thank you for this wonderful stream. I'm glad that you got to experience this adaptation of an absolute classic. When I was younger, I thought of In the Water as the "good" ending, but I've softened on James with age. He was thrown into a hellish situation for three years and it broke him.

Lore: You know that cave in Empire Strikes Back where Luke asks what's in the cave? And Yoda replies, "only what you take with you." Silent Hill is the polluted version of that cave. It's a scummy pond you see your reflection in. Silent Hill is neither purgatory nor hell, it's a place of power. A "sacred place" as Mary says. But Silent Hill 2 doesn't tell the big back story about its recent history. Silent Hill 2 is about three unlucky randos, unaware of the powers or history of the town wandering in. As such, the game is a compartmentalized personal tale of tragedy. It expands the setting, but that isn't the main focus of the game. The town has no purpose and if anything, most the franchise's villains show just how dangerous the town can make them. Imagine Eddie's worst tendencies being enabled by the town and you get the gist. People wallowing in self-pity aren't too harmful. Delusional zealots are in a different league all together. This is also why Laura seems largely unaffected by the town. She's too young to have great ambitions or grief. The town can make things "real" for some definition of real, as you can see from Maria or the Rebirth ending. But the games are vague about what that actually means.

Just starting to watch the VOD, but congratulations ahead Fauna & Gigi for finishing SH2 ! What a crazy ride this has been ! Really glad to watch you two through yap through the horrors! Both of you spurring each other on eventually let you escape Silent Hill! Gigi is a great hype man in these clutch boss fights! Silent Hill 2 is a real classic, a super tragic story that strikes a really good balance in how it shows its characters deal with their inner demons. Angela and Eddie cannot move past their own troubles but in different ways. Angela can't see that she was a victim and Eddie cannot see himself as anything BUT a victim that was justified in what he did. Laura is pure enough that she has no inner demons for Silent Hill to manipulate, and James ultimately has a choice. He can forgive himself and try to redeem himself alongside Laura (Leave), he can give into despair (In Water), give into his darker impulses (Maria) or give into his own delusions (Bliss), among others. And what's interesting is that the game leaves it up into interpretation on if he even deserves any of these endings. Glad you two watched the other endings as well! Propts to Fauna and Gigi for being brave and crossing another game off the list. Thank you for your hard work!

I don't know what's more horrifying - the closing of the peach parfait place or that you expected the mystery to be adultery It was pretty hype when you started the pyramid head fight dodging with the pipe too. You were channeling your inner Souls gamer In the Stillness ending you can actually hear something like a car door opening in your left ear just before the car goes into the water. You don't hear that audio bit in the In Water ending. My favorite thing to notice though is the weight of Pyramid Head's sword. Pyramid Head can drag it along with seeming ease, but it's so heavy with guilt that James struggled to drag it along... especially when piloted by you

Thanks for the stream, Fauna and Gigi! This was a really great series; I'm glad you two were able to play it through to the end Cool to hear that you were also a roof explorer in college! There was a whole subculture around it at my alma mater, but I'd never heard of ppl from other schools having that kind of experience Definitely feeling the poignancy of "endings". Whether it's a departed wife, a permanently closed vegan parfait place, or a fave streamer who's graduating, the things that matter to us are not so easily left behind. It's best not to let the past hold you back, but even when you move on, you carry it with you

Congrats on learning... some kind of sexy lesson, presumably, by facing down two Pyramid heads in mortal combat and winning. It was a wonderful series of streams, I'll miss this silly combination in the future. Chemistry off the charts!
