Thank You for playing this Ruze! I don't know how you're doing it but you've managed to make my December special, when i was expecting a pretty lonely and depressing month. Big big Love Vod Question: So i don't know how many have played this but i think the gameplay and the goofy art has held up over time, so my evergreen game would be Star Control 2. A few years back my partner replayed it and man the aliens still were cool and goofy and the gameplay was hella fun. If you love weird space ships and aliens, I highly recommend. It even has blue lady aliens that inspired well known blue alien women in other ip's.

Otsuruze! Thank you for the campaign playthrough, it's really interesting how one person's choice can change their entire life's trajectory... Vod question: I'm going to bring up Legend of Mana again for evergreen art style because the game has a painterly, watercolor look and detailed sprites that are timeless even today. I can sit on one screen and leave it and the music on for hours.

Thank you so much for the stream!! I wasn't super chatty during, but I was here live & enjoying the lovely time through this fascinating adventure!! I think I'll rewatch it later to take in the storytelling extra much!! Would love to see more!! (During stream, my friend came by the room to help me with somethin'! i talk about u often so i mentioned u were in my headphones. She had me make the volume so she could hear ya yap too. She enjoyed the gameplay chattin' she was here for, expressing her surprise & fondness of the chibi hehe. She doesn't mind me mentioning it so i figured I'd share with u! Thank you for sharin' your childhood with us^^ I'm always appreciative to get to tag along with whatever you're up to onstream!) Which Game: About the Vod Q? hmmm I dunno. As whatever kinda artist I am myself, I think all games made by ppl tend to have an evergreen artstyle, in the sense that it carries across the vibe of the context of the game.. Even if it isn't initially what appeals to my visual fond niches or what I'd imagine thinking of it. Why: I recently did a deep dive learning about "prose" & "poetic", as well as like,, narrative "voice" outside of characters as structural terms within writing novels. I think my current comprehension of what those may be to how a story is written,, mirrors how I see game artstyles too. Like the hues of the frame () I view the game's story through; possibly showcasing tone/mood, vibrancy, and perception of the characters/surroundings within. So. It's evergreen- not because it's aesthetically pleasing stereotypically, or because you can't tell when it was made, but,, because it's indeed the visual language the story is/was spoken with, thus.. it thrives in and of itself before outside conclusion about it really has any bearing on the matter at all. in my long-winded opinion. not sure if that makes sense/is explained it well/is a nonsensical way to think of it wah! no clue what the most evergreen would be at all by what u meant i didn't think i had any answer for today's question but i had myself try to sort my thoughts about it bc i wanted to post the initial part of this comment Aside from that- I can say the first "game" that came to mind was "Sonic Green Hill," that if I recall right is just one level I saw in my DS game from years 'n years ago, which,, I didn't assume had major memorable significance for me & pretty sure also does not answer ur question either. ehe. otsuruze! (if u r curious which sonic i'm thinking of i'm pretty sure it's in the "Sonic Classic Collection" DS game. loved it all, but i'm curious why i'm reminded of it rn)

otsu~! this stream unlocked a lot of memories i didn't know i still had... it's nice to look back on old games like these and see them with fresh eyes thanks for sharing with us one of your favorite games from your childhood! vod question: tbh i think a lot of pixel art games are pretty timeless! though my answer would have to be my favorite childhood game, Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town on the gameboy advance/SP! i think the series has never looked as good as this era... even after the new Story of Seasons remakes and new installments, i still feel like it was at its best during the pixel art era... it's just way more charming! the crops don't look out of place... whenever i go back to it, it never feels dated! (in terms of art style, at the very least... the gameplay... w )

otsu, ty for the stream~ games with an evergreen style: first one that came to mind was Hotel Dusk, its sketchy rotoscoped style is so cool and i've never seen anything else like it. also the 2D Professor Layton games, they have an illustrated storybook look and are SO charming

Thanks for the stream, Ruze! Def a comfy time (horrors of war aside). Looking forward to the continuation and seeing the reactions of Ruzaders new to the story For the vod q, i'd have to agree that the more abstract and less realistic the graphics are, the more likely they'll hold up over time, but I think the key marker is stylization. Whether you're working with 16 bits or 4k, having a cohesive art style through which to see the game world and characters will give the graphics a personality of their own which tends to charm an audience, and years later, it either holds up or the players will still love it anyway because it isn't just old/bad graphics--it's something special

1st time playing The Culling, i was just focused on finishing the mission, thinking about it now, any choice they made will not save Stratholme. Nostalgia, thank you for the stream

Thank you for the cozy stream And for the treats About timeless evergreen game art styles: I recently found a 1999 pixel rotoscope game for ps1 Yuuyami Doori Tankentai and one thought was lingering on my mind for the entire time. This game could be made this year because the natural color palette and lighting and realistic environment just show life how it is. Pixel art in general is pretty resistant to aging but something in this grounded style feels very timeless

The culling is one of the best moments in not just warcraft but gaming. It's one thing to see this happen but to force the player to actively commit to killing the people makes not only Arthas guilty but us the player.

I think I gotta say Pokemon! I do like the look and details of the modern games, but i'm still very endeared by the first ones.

Way back when I played this for myself, I simply thought Arthas was morally bankrupt. He *is*, but now I see that's not all there is to it. From birth, Arthas has been groomed to rule. He was to one day become King of Lordaeron. So, before he was trained as a paladin, before he took any oaths or learned to call on the Light, he was taught the ethics of a ruler. What are a ruler's ethics? Well, if doing the right thing means all of your people die, then it's not actually the right thing. Whether a ruler is focused on their own power, or genuinely protective of their subjects, there's really no way around that. Arthas believes that Stratholme is a pivotal point in a war for Lordaeron's survival--maybe for humanity's. If he doesn't act decisively, he reasons, then the city will become a vast enemy army, and his country is not ready to repel that army. So he does what he's been taught a leader *must* do: sacrifice some for the sake of all. In his head, it's not much different from leading his troops into battle against orcs--some footmen and riflemen die, but their deaths *prevent* far greater tragedies. The biggest problem in the Culling of Stratholme is how resistant Arthas is to any other perspective. Uther wants to try to save Stratholme. Medivh wants him to save his people by fleeing. Arthas doesn't entertain these ideas *at all*. He thinks in terms of necessity, as the crown prince must, but he's not willing to think *critically*. One wishes Medivh were a little better at cultivating credibility. He tries to sway people by swooping in and bluntly proclaiming doom, which is a tack that can only work on the deeply naive and the terribly desperate.

Ah, Medivh, voiced by the goated Michael Bell. For many he is the voice of Raziel in Legacy of Kaine and Dutch in GI Joe. For me, he will always be Prowl and Sideswipe from Transformers. Uther, Kel'Thuzad and the Lich King are voiced by the equally goated Michael McConnohie, another G1 transformers guy with many voice credits to his name.

Thank you for the stream! This game brings back interesting memories but I think I only played custom cause elves VOD question: FF9 and FF10 feel evergreen to me... The graphics still stand the test of time today. It was the realistic graphics of those times and it probably is better than graphics now? Hmmmm...

I don't know if anyone knows the answer to this and this may be the wrong place to ask, but so like when blizzard buffed heavy armor a few months ago, does that apply to the campaign or are all campaign values hard locked? Anyways thank you for the vod!!
