9:50:23 the main reason she can't do this is because Aline essentially used Verso's own soul as a pigment when creating him. He has all of Verso's memories, and Maelle couldn't recreate that without what Verso left behind in the canvas. That's what I found so inhumane about Verso's life in the canvas, he's essentially been revived from the dead to disappoint his grieving mother for all the time she has left.

Man, what a journey. Awesome job completing the main game, Biboo! Quite the heavy endings. Also can I just say? One of my favorite things about this game was seeing how Sciel's connection to Esquie turned out. The final convo she has with Verso always gets me everytime I hear it when we learn more about how she lost who she lost. Esquie saving Sciel was such a touching revelation that made me happy to see. They both got some of the biggest hearts within the group and I'm a big fan of that

This game's strongest factor for me is how loveable the characters are, for both their perfections and imperfections, so going into that forced-decision ending and seeing both of them be kinda depressing in one way or another, it's really good! It reminded me of another one of my favorite series and its ending, but I don't wanna spoil it here for anyone who hasn't seen it. All I'll say is that, ironically, even thought the Expedition 33 endings felt similar in my opinion, the series I'm referring to had a mostly negative reception to its ending But yea, I think Maelle is valid in not wanting to let go, extending the life of the canvas for an indefinite number of years (from what I gather about the time dilation, this is a really good tradeoff in my opinion, although Verso doesn't seem to be enjoying it for his own issues...), and I think that Verso's ending is valid too. Closure is important, and we have to let go of our coping mechanisms at some point, it's the only proper way to move on I really enjoyed watching Biboo parry her way through every battle during this game, and I'll be the first to admit _I_ might have gotten a little antsy at the end, since I wanted to know more about the story. I really appreciate Biboo challenging herself (especially on the Alicia fight because I mean, come on ) but yea by that point I _did_ kinda just wanna see story Not that I didn't enjoy the fights, but I was just excited I had a great time counting the bwehs this series, it really helped me engage with the gameplay instead of kinda throwing it in the background, and I genuinely felt cheerful when Biboo landed parries that she took some time to download before! Thanks for the stream Biboo! You did a great job beating the game. I really like how you actually wanted to engage with the final battles instead of steamrolling them with OP strats. Just wanted to add, please don't add ice to burn wounds. Ice might actually make burn wounds worse. You should use cold water instead. If you want an extreme example, if you've seen My Hero Academia, the character Todoroki has a scar on his face. Not going into too much detail, but he got this scar after getting hit in the face with boiling water and they tried to help him by freezing the wound. Some fans speculate that his scar wasn't solely from the boiling water, but the combination of the burn and immediately freezing it. *****************************SPOILERS FOR THE ENDING************************************************* I'm glad that you actually put some thought into Maelle's ending. Even though I prefer Verso's ending, some people justify his actions by saying that the people in the painting aren't real. I find this argument very flawed due to the simple fact that if we're being literal, then everyone isn't real. We're playing a video game. If the argument is that the people in the painting don't matter because they aren't real, then the same argument can be applied to the Dessendre family even if they are "real" within their own universe. That's why I believe the argument should be more based on how the characters make us feel, rather than how "real" they are. That's why this game's endings are so great, as I believe there is no objectionably "correct" ending. The line of "We are all hypocrites, doing the same thing to each other." Is so good as well. It applies to so many things, but the highlights to me are: -Renoir talks about how he is forced to see Aline slowly die every day, but he forced all of Lumiere watch all of their loved ones die every year as the Gommage happened. -Verso just being "He who guards the truth with lies," as he acts selfless, but is actually acting with selfish motivations. You can view his actions as familial love, but there are also hints that he just wants it all to end. I am basing this off of the fact that as he laid dying in Maelle's end, he could have begged Maelle to leave, live her life, and come back later. Instead he chooses to asks her to let him die. -Maelle, talking about how she doesn't want to live her life outside of the canvas. She doesn't want to live that life. Yet in the end, she forces Verso to have the same fate even as he says "I don't want to live this life."

Did some guessy math... if the painters really are just people w magic, then the paintress cant have been in the canvas for more than 3 days, because no water would kill her. ( possibly less because she could faint from dehydration and she is old) Painted verso is about 100-120? years old, its not clear, he is just estimated by Lune to be 100. and he was one of the first things Aline created. So 33 or 40 years in the painted realm is about one day in the real world. Maelle's 16 years of life might have been about half a day's worth of time in the real world. The dad might have been in there for 2 days at most, his 67 years.

The game doesn't care about which choice you make. It only cares that you make a choice, that you think about each option and wheigh the consequences under the prism of your own morals and values. Both options are ultimately about dealing with grief, and choosing what you will sacrifice, as there will be a sacrifice no matter what.
