Yippee! More time to explore Xenokuni! Here’s some places you can do a day trip from Tokyo: Yokohama (strawberry festival for all of February), Mt. Takao, Mt. Mitake, Enoshima (the aquarium is famous), Hakone ( onsen-hot springs and Mt. Fuji), and Kamakura. If you have time to go further north: Gunma- check out the sulfur hot spring, Niigata- there’s the Tokamachi Snow Festival in February plus you can ski/snowboard, Hitachi seaside park in Ibaraki, Nikko- it’s a world heritage site, Sendai- it’s the biggest city in northern Japan. You gotta try their local specialty- gyutan (beef tongue). My scavenger hunt food is Gyudon (beef bowl)! Friendly reminder that you can get Yoshinoya/Sukiya for breakfast. Also highly recommend buying Kairo カイロ( pocket hand warmers) if you’re going to be outside. Have fun!
