I'm so so happy to be exploring this game with you and the kois!! while i think the story thus far has felt 'younger' in terms of the relationship dynamics going on, i also feel there's a lot still under the surface we still haven't tackled yet, like Hinako maybe fearing losing her freedom to something in the future, or her relationship to her sister prior to junko's marriage!! Can't wait to hear everyone's analysis of this really intriguing game so far!

As a fan of Silent Hill since the late 90s who hasn't loved many of the later entries, I'm really impressed with this game. It's got the psychological aspect nailed perfectly. Love seeing you stream games like this and really think about the story and what makes the game tick!

Rewatching the vod and i like your thought process and analyses. Not sure if this is what you were referencing, but there's definitely a correlation between "gendered" accessories and control. Women in japan were forced to wear heels to be "work appropriate" even if it caused pain and mobility issues, and told not to wear their glasses to be more approachable as a female. There was a big movement in 2019 and a petition for more workwear freedom, not sure what the results are today..

I fell asleep at the 4th hour mark, but I’m back to complete the VOD now!! Can’t wait for more Silent Hill tonight! I hate horror games/movies, so I’ve never watched or played anything Silent Hill related, so this is my first SH experience and I’m happy I’m doing it with Shinri and the kois I never thought I would ever watch anything horror related at midnight/1AM in my life, but Shinri has a way to out me at ease and I don’t get scared at all! I wonder if a lot of people who say Silent Hill f "isn't" a Silent Hill game noticed its MANY meta links to the first three games? Musical leitmotifs, atmospheric and thematic similarities, level traversal and design throwbacks, recontextualization, monster design, and [SPOILERS]...Also, imo, SHf has options for separate puzzle and combat difficulty settings; it's kind of not its fault that gamers tend to not use those options (to their detriment). BUT ANYWAY! I'm glad you're bringing so much empathy and nuance to your playthrough! It's unique to other perspectives I've watched, because while you acknowledge the circumstances and cultural norms that lead to certain developments in the game, you always have a genuine, heartfelt reaction and concern. Other LPs I've watched aren't unemphatic, but you approach it from a place of emotional maturity. Also!! Lorecrafting and taking time to read between the lines! That's honestly one of the main distinct things I like about your playthroughs. I don't expect perfect knowledge of the actual mythology/customs/history/etc. behind everything, so it's fun seeing you pull from your library of narrative tropes, common cultural symbolisms, mental media archives, etc. I'm still catching up on this VOD and the next one, but I hope you like Hinako's town of fog (and Ryukishi07's OG mindfuck writing) enough to play all the endings :)
