It's funny, I'm actually in pretty good shape for my age (I'll be turning 39 on Saturday) but I can't remember the last time I 'worked out'. My general lifestyle is relatively active and my job is pretty darn active, too. Sometimes, just some lifestyle adjustments is all you need! Take that 10min walk rather than taking the bus. Take in 3 bags of shopping rather than just 2. Doesn't have to be anything huge, just little exertions done consistently. That being said! I'm not sure if Yena mentioned this during her advice, but one of the most important pieces of advice I could give to anyone trying to get in shape is to pace yourself. 'Feeling the burn' IS good. It means you're straining your muscles so that they can repair stronger. But! It's important that you don't push yourself TOO far. The more you damage your muscle tissue, the longer it takes to recover. Damage it too much and the damage can become permanent. If you injure yourself training, then you can't train until you've healed. To get the best net gain, it's about finding your pace and increasing it at a manageable level. There is NO such thing as 'quick and easy' in proper training.
