This was a nice Middle of the week in review! it still amazes me that a lot of those amazing bends and twists in the plot were completely purely by chance. It really showed the versatility and absolute chaos of pure RP. As well as everyone's skills in rolling with the punches of sudden changes. I especially loved your talk on how you chose your music set list because it stuck with the most, and I would say that that is one of your traits in you RPs, along with your camera work. I love how, in the first half of the stream, when you were talking about VTRP, half the cast was in chat with us. Lol

yes yes Yes VTRP director's commentary!!! Your passion for all of this just oozed from the production value, and that's both all the visual/audio stuff we've already been hearing about along the way, the one million live music tracks and letterboxing and the incredibly crafted thumbnails. (actually double shout out to the thumbnails, genuinely wildly good I was actively looking forward to seeing the next one throughout the week.) But Also! getting to hear about all the little tricks you were able to put into executing the roleplay itself, like how intentional the slapstick was, or deliberately extending conversations just to fit the length of a track. wild... To drive in on something, I do think your willingness to roll with the punches really is the core of how you're able to craft such a compelling experience, and it's why Gavin missing the portal to the final battle is my single favorite turning point in the entire season. It'd be easy to see that as a huge opportunity cost, being prepared for that epic climax the whole session and accidentally missing it. But all the threads missing the portal tie into do So much to bring home the thematic heart of that epilogue. For one thing, the fact he missed it because he was checking in on Huntrix one more time- truly the little shitpost sideplot that could. I genuinely think all the character work with Huntrix in the finale does a lot to make the tragic conclusion feel earned- both 'completing' his character in terms of giving him a legacy that he believes can achieve things he never could, while also becoming this direct example of why it hurts so much for him to go, because they so desperately and irrationally don't want him to leave. All while balancing the tone by providing these moments of levity/absurdity in the otherwise somber end sequence. And it also works just so well for his conclusion with Barnacles. Barnacles was always this wild fantasy man from another land, so it's so satisfying that he'd finally fully embody it by becoming the True Hero in this fantastical moment. But Gavin, as much as he chameleon-ed his way in with all these strange folk, and as involved as he got in organizing everyone to reach this point, at the end of the way was just a Man. So when the plot takes this full leap out of the grounded setting, he gets left behind, and just has to hope for the best for his friends. And then the fraught, long distance conclusion is So good. Getting the pre-planned flashback footage with the both of them together would have been a great moment, but getting it with them separated is even better. From a comedic perspective, it's a great conclusion for the 'Mount Chillead?' guessing to Finally be wrong. And then of course, the spot-the-difference of directly seeing them together in that footage enhancing the tragedy of Barnacles just being Gone. Chef's kiss! also lmao glad you're aware and proud of the Actual Factual tears you caused, wasn't sure how much typing at the time communicated it ;P and with that entire wall about the epic rp, one more aside for the music talk :3c. yayyyy yippee onwards towards a vocal coach!!! it is nice to hear how our support has helped you :3c. that said, a lot of the reason why i'm able to feel confident supporting you and not like it's pressuring is that you actually really... consistently outpace any expectations i'd have for how soon youve wanted to pick yourself back up from the bumps and bruises along the way and continue with it? and thats throughout your entire career, but obviously how you've recovered from the vocal strain situation kinda is the ultimate example at his point. something it'd be really easy to become extremely discouraging, but instead your determination to pace yourself and to instead improve your technique shines through it in a way I can only ascribe to being really intrinsically motivated sing more. so!!! it's good you're giving yourself credit for your passion for it!!

loved this WiR!! i always find it so fascinating whenever you take the time to go over your creative process, your thoughts and any other behind the scenes stuff! i feel like a bit of a broken record saying this, but your roleplaying is truly one of my absolute favorites!! the way you create characters and build them up through whatever is thrown your way is so impressive, especially knowing you don't just go in with a plan but sort of take it all in stride. your improv skills are crazy, i'm always so impressed by your ability to just riff off of other people and transition from one bit to the other so seamlessly. this season of VTRP was truly a treat !! both the people that came back and the new entries all did amazing, i loved getting to meet so many new characters through the eyes of gavin. the way you played around with the music and the screen ratio throughout the episodes made it all so immersive, i couldn't stop watching even for one second... you really do have a director's eye! your passion for editing/cinema and the like really shines in these events... you've mentioned it a few times in passing, but if perchance you end up making an actual movie i'm excited to see how incredible it'll be if this is what you're able to do on the go ! season 2 was probably one of my fave RP events recently, i can't wait to see what the next one will be like! thank you again for both the great (absolute cinema) content the past weeks and for the week in (actual?!) review! looking forward to whatever antics are next PS: congrats on your health journey, early debut bettel was very endearing in a messy, concerning way... but current bettel is even better but go get that big bowl of chocolate ice cream! it's deserved!!!

It felt even more put together this year, maybe because of the overarching plot and common goal? In any case, I’m super greatful to everyone who participated, so good! You did so good with your RP, directing, and camerawork. Really impressive! I love Gavin Bettol so much and yes you actually made me cry! RIP my favourite cinema freak from Albuquerque, he may have been a chameleon man but there was no one else like him! 🎥🚬 It was an absolute treat to watch all of this, thank you I’m super happy to hear you talk about your vocal journey! I love your singing so much, so of course I’m happy because of that, but especially because you want to progress and learn for yourself! That’s amazing!
