Hey boss, you seem to be enjoying your very first Pokemon game, grind aside. If so, awesome! Keep having fun! There is a lot to learn, but keep taking it at your own pace. Lots of backseaters are throwing details at you, like nature, IV's, and EV's and stuff at you. You can ignore most of it. The effects of many of these things are mostly marginal and meaningless outside of PvP, where competitive players try to squeeze every last digit out of their pokemon. The main thing to learn is typing. Typing is simply knowing which types are strong/vulnerable to each other. Even if your pokemon are 1-3 levels beneath an opposing pokemon, superior typing will win you the match. Us old kids went in completely blind in 1997, and not understanding typing caused me lose lots of matches. Water attacks are strong against fire, ground, and rock type pokemon, and water pokemon are vulnerable to grass and electric attacks, but resist fire, water, steel and ice attacks. You'll discover how effective typing is in Rustboro gym. I know Duck at level 11 could have solo'd this gym. You ended the stream with Duck at level 13, so you're more than plenty prepared enough. Duck will sweep this gym clean. Everyone else in your party is likely to get squashed, because rock attacks are super effective against bug, fire, flying, and ice pokemon.
