Thanks for playing this game! This is such a unique experience- the revival of a long-dormant series, not made by the original devs, and releasing into a fanbase that gets upset if there aren't five offscreen rocket launcher guys in every encounter. That said it's made a name for itself by virtue of being a real fun romp. Not a 10/10, not GotY but absolutely someone's favorite 8/10 for sure. I have a personal soft spot for the series, because it was my brother's favorite game as a kid and I was raised watching him play Ninja Gaiden Black for hours on end. I'm very glad to see new people experience this game! There is so much I could say about the combat, and instead of elaborating on any of it I'll say to go look up Ninja Gaiden 2 Staircase on youtube. Gotta be one of the really crunchy videos from 17 years ago for the full experience.

What a rollercoaster, high speed experience of a game! The movement is so fluid yet so fast it takes the eyes of a hawk to keep up. Still, it's action packed with that slight hint of danger that makes for a hero with a hard exterior! Modern day ninjas in Tokyo are always a cool concept to explore when looking at how everything they do has evolved to match the time period. And nothing like a story setting in which an ancient dragon was called upon to fight, is sealed away by the hero and then brought back to life once more through magic preventing it from finding peace. Bringing with it unlimited chaos and cursed rain as well as a girl housing its soul to safeguard it. Took me a bit by surprise that Yakumo willingly accepted what Seori told him, a bit too trusting for my taste since she could have been leading him by the nose the entire time. Nevertheless, the objective changed from erasing her to breaking the seals in order to break the cycle. In regards to the skills, it's not every day you are offered to practice them after purchasing them! Something of a newer addition to video games these days, quite handy. The game itself seems to be rather taken with detailed combat, so much grape juice spilled everywhere in addition to that impeccable sound design highlighting even the slightest hit. It's quite reactive too, requiring button inputs for set movements. At first it looks disorganized but the fact you need to use a chain makes it carefully calculated. Also the soundtrack is amazing, the boss battle OST went hard! Using the railway right after reminded me so much of Sonic. The Kitsune Courtesan design blew my mind, I love how reminiscent of plants it was with her umbrella covered in ranks and her kimono shaped like leaves! She attacked so gracefully too, a whirlwind amidst the flames! Misaki's appearance was not what I expected at all. Obtaining the new drill spear opened the way for heavy hitting, end it quick fighting - it took care of enemies in mere seconds. Sanzeon also lived up to his status as a high entity, his multitude of arms and the halo indicated it. I also quite liked his attacks; the light based strikes throwing what looked to be fortune slips were as strong as they were pretty. Overall you've improved at the speed of sound playing, what was uncertain before became solid studying of your foes to find weak points to attack! Thank you for the stream, I would very much like to see more of this in this coming week! As well as finishing Outer Wilds amongst other things. Hope you've had a great weekend Betsy, take care and see ya for Week in Review.
