Now to introduce the other mems to peak... Thanks for the stream!

Fun fact: All those next episode previews? The one narrating it was Mithra all along. Back when I was playing this game on my PS3, my cousin was bunking with me for 2 years and we got the privilege to witness this game and its epic story. He made me promise to play the game only when he was around, because he was so invested in the story and so we practically watched this entire anime in the guise of a game together. Then when that ending hit of Mithra telling a story to the children, that's when it hit us in a mindblown moment. This entire game had been Mithra telling and narrating the story of her father Asura to those kids all along. She broke the story down into segments and chapters and narrated everything, even those episode previews for the next chapters as if you're watching an anime when you finish one chapter. We also noticed and caught on to the symbology of the characters in the game and we realised how peak it was. Notice how Asura's eyes are always white when he was resurrected? That was because he was blinded by rage and anger, as per his mantra. That's why when Chakravatin was vanquished and mantra disappeared Asura's eyes returned to normal. Augus's eyes were always white too because he was blinded by greed and avarice. During the final battle with Deus, he had those markings appear on his face covering his eyes and face, because his Pride had veiled his eyes to reality and the possibility of other options and solutions to defeating Goma Vlitra other than his own. Yasha always had a sad look on his face, because he sacrificed his sister, niece and brother in law all for the sake of the greater good of vanquishing the Goma that was terrorising Gaea. Yasha weighted that the sacrifice of his 3 kin was worth saving the lives of trillions of people living on Gaea, and had fully intended to atone for his sins when the great deed to vanquish Goma Vlitra is done. True to his mantra of Melancholy, he always has a sad grieving look on his face and he wore a mask to hide that. The reason why at the end, all the Deities and their spirits appeared to see Asura off, is because they had all been fooled and manipulated. Even though they did evil things, they did it for the greater good and with good intentions in mind and heart. To save the lives of many by sacrificing the few. They might have reached their conclusions and mindsets due to their affiliated mantra as well, as you can think of it has their mantra having "corrupted" or "influenced" them, and the one who created and spread the mantra was Chakravatin himself. That was why Yasha was so distraught when he finally learned the truth from Chakravatin, that all their sacrifice was for nothing and on the whims of a God. So when Asura was flying off to get back at Chakravatin, he wasn't doing it for just himself. He was doing it for the entire Gaea the planet, all those trillions of lives lost, the comrades that had been misguided and manipulated by Chakravatin. Asura was getting back at God himself for all of us and he carried with him the wrath of the entire planet. Asura's Wrath was a peak 10/10 game. The story was just too epic and good.

I always think about how CyberConnect2 have said they just need the green light to gladly make more for Asura's Wrath, be it remaster or sequel

Seeing Calli hitting every QTE in the final fight against god really felt like watching the culmination of an anime training arc. And as a fan of Gurren Lagann, I’m happy that Calli got to experience the same feelings as that series for the first time, again, thanks to this game.

Glad you played and enjoyed this, Asura's Wrath is one of my all time favorite pieces of media! Something you commented on a few times is the "fingerprint" texture the characters's skin has: This is meant to replicate the texture seen on Buddhist and Hindu statues and ceramics. There's a really great series of articles titled "A Buddhist's guide to Asura's Wrath" which breaks down a bunch of the cultural influences behind the game, I highly recommend them!

Note, Asura didn't actually get the power of seven trillion souls. Yasha said the reactor was spent - it was only meant to contain Asura's power. He was that strong _to begin with._ Anyway, time to watch the parts I missed while sleeping.

The cinematography of this game is insane. Masks shards falling over desaturated flashbacks was so good.

This game was the one that proved to me that videogames can be art, with the amazing soundtrack, cinematography, aesthetics and story This is going to become my confort VOD for a while now Thank you Calli for letting me be part, at least a little, of the end of this story. Back in 2013 I never was able to play the DLC so I'm so glad you were as excited as I was

There’s just something about Father Daughter games and the lengths a Dad will go to save his daughter. I had the same emotion during Bioshock 2, tho they were probably a little less hype lol

In the live chat, I am so glad somebody else drew the comparison between Vlitra & Argosax! Hell, Yasha as back up against Deus, Vlitra and Chak is pretty much an improved version of the 2nd phase of the final Arkham fight in DMC3! Even in early beta gameplay footage, Asura has guns and gets more guns the more arms he gets!

The amount of dedication Liam O'Brien put into voicing Asura is honestly insane. He didn't want to just convey the anger and rage, but also the sorrow of a father whose wife was murdered and daughter tortured for thousands of years, sometimes requiring him to scream continuously for 17 to 20 seconds, which caused him to start coughing up blood. The other voice actors did great, too, especially Robin Atkin Downes (in my opinion), but nothing really beats all that.

Congrats on beating Asura's Wrath, Calli! It was an amazing journey, as reliving this amazing game with you was the most cinematic experience I could have had.
