Finestamps Part 1: 04:43 Stream Start. Welcome to tonight's Alone in the Dark stream Reine is really scared, cuz her muscle memory is dead. We played last week, we continue after seven days and it will take a while for her to get used again 05:27 Reine hopes the enemies do not respawn in this game and because we have dealt with a bunch of them. we're gonna have a bunch of save zones. This is part 2, technically like the graphic wise, this game is from 1992. ofc graphics wise it's originally 1992 game so it's supposedly not as bad as you think. Scary or not doesn't really depend on graphics alone. Reine does get terrified because she opens a door and sees a purple thing in the bathtub. It doesn't matter if it's pixelated or not 06:45 Anything can be deadly. Let's just go... Reine, chill... but yeah, it's very eerie and strange 07:10 Switching screens, MS-DOS my beloved. Jumpscare because of the sound of thunder 07:33 Short recap of the previous stream 08:23 There's eldritch horrors and stuff like that. local kickboxing master goes into abandoned mansion to kick zombies There's not only zombies, there are some rats/birds and some bird looking monsters. And there's a lot of lore, we can start with some reading. 09:18 the manor like burned down once before. This guy is a detective and he investigates the manor. What a sound. We gotta reign a hue range of things, zombies, rats, bird looking things a purple jellyfish, a painting, a suit of armor that wants to kill us. And a stone demon 10:30 This guy just goes to the loft. Reine doesn't like the holding axes. It does seem like a fever dream except it's not actually. Now we have bigger problem - we have 3 different library saves Can someone check the VOD which one is good? 11:37 Let's check he inventory.... wow wow Reine remembers this book 12:04 Devermis Mysteriis - it's a cursed book. There are some cursed books, , no matter what language you read it, it'll still summon satan or something 12:47 DEATH COUNT: 1 Reine was outside the pentagram 13:13 we still haven't found what this key is for. We got a bunch of stuff, our inventory is full. Louisiana plantation was the history thing 13:36 This room is in the dark! ANJIR! 13:45 RUN, YOU IDIOT! OMG OMG OMG. Purple library monster jumpscare 14:27 do we have a weapon to kill it? 14:49 The Anya-looking dagger is to slit the throat of the lamb I think 15:35 RUN YOU IDIOT, RUN Droppin the lamp 16:01 Reine is scared What's the action button? 16:14 LMAO, ONE HIT! IN ANYA WE TRUST! GET REKT, BEACH! 16:41 Obtaining a book. There's only one book 17:07 Picking up the oil lamp, hopefully we can read the book safely. Hopefully it's not a cursed book 17:45 The Sons of the Sun and of the Shadows. There's one more book that's cursed but Reine doesn't remember what it was called. "we found the savages half-naked" this book is about Cortez's expedition 19:35 Incantation! 20:51 ATTACK! 21:18 Toledo steels buried itself in the heathen's face - so that's how they killed the priest 22:11 Drawing of Chalchihuitlicue 22:46 Run you idiot. We're good actually 22:57 Reine does not want to go past the dark room. She wanna keep saving, just for safety 23:23 This is also a dark room, Reine dropped some books here last time 23:53 Obtaining a notebook. Reine gonna throw this book in the fireplace. Which monster is it? Reine remembers cuz she triggered this 24:46 Cursed bird monster. Reine forgot how to shoot. It's up, right? but it's not shooting? 25:47 Battling a big bird monster. The rotation is comically slow. We could do better, so go reload 26:32 2 shots, birb is dead. what does the notebook say? 26:52 Dairy of J. Hartwood - it's the last owner of the mansion, this guy hanged himself 27:32 Where does the madness begin? this is the madness. The night is pitch black... 28:26 Hartwood realized that the derceto's library is filled with books on the occult. Too late 29:05 Sacrifical dagger is the dagger we found, it belonged to the unholy cult 29:53 The dark man has revelaed his face to Hartwood. He appeared near the fireplace... 30:13 IOLLIERAID. Ollie and Iofi had a relay thing 30:31 Please tell us if there's a way to kill the dark man. Ollie appears in chat. 31:05 He will wait as long as jhe must unless I, Jeremy Hartwood, can find a way to send him back to whatever hell he comes from Please find the way 32:33 The cave Hartwood's father sought for so many years is beneath the house... Hartwood was filled with gorror of the thought of his father dying in this place. It turns that his body was twisted... his finger nails torn and bloody from scrabbling at the floor. Doctor concluded it was a heart attack 33:25 Hartwood saw something evil inthe caverns 33:51 It's just an audiobook part 34:04 The VA is crazy good. Derceto is the main of the mansion, for those who don't know 34:10 This is the moment when he decides to hang himself, he definitely lost his sanity 34:52 Do we take care of this little guy in the.... I don't know 35:17 Might as well, let's just shoot him. One shoot can kill him 35:45 Yes, he's not dead 36:10 How many hits do we need? 37:08 Dropping the notebook. We still haven't solved the gramophone problem. But maybe we can put the gramophone down 38:06 Wah... NOOOOOO, NOOOOOOO! Reine got stuck 38:28 No, no, no, I walk back 38:54 Is there anything in the cabinet? hopefully not... 39:14 Items everywhere - I'm sorry Can we close this door? 39:50 We're gonna have this music. Reine found a statuette. What's the jug for? 40:28 Where does this lead to? kitchen and dining room. Do we fill the jug with this soup? None of these have water, this one has no water. The bathroom upstairs have no water 41:29 Reine killed everyone here. She was told there was a way that we could let them live, but she had to do it 42:18 obtaining a record. YES, ANOTHER RECORD! But we have to get rid of some stuff from our EQ 42:50 Reine takes the record, cannot carry anymore stuff. What happens if we use the first aid case? 43:25 OMG, it's +25? that's crazy 43:48 key to Jeremy's study, there's also an empty first aid kit box. And this can also be thrown already. We're just throwing everything 44:40 There's a mechanism to trigger. but what should we use? sword? Reine wanna save first 45;23 We gotta take the gramophone... THERE'S A GHOST! RUN! 45:38 Let's make a little detour, Reine forgor the way 45:55 No, hell no, why are we going to the basement aka the rat room 46:37 This is the library? nope... can we take the sword? Does it mean if we break the saber, do we get softlocked? 47:34 Reine's memory is so awful today, she forgot she took the gramophone already 47:52 Brb guys, I'm scare,d I don't want to go. oh when broken it just uses an extra slot. It's a little bit of punishment. What do you mean it's locked 48:21 Reine brb 50:00 Reine bacc, she wears jacket cuz it's cold. She needs to be less cold, cuz we're playing scary game that gives her chills 50:30 we're supposed to play music. Did we toss the key and that door is locked forever? 51:01 Let's play the music. save first. 51:20 Listening to the Dance of Death. Obtaining a key 51:57 where did this freakin ghost come from? so loud 52:42 Listening to the Dance of Death. Obtaining a key. BLESSED SCREAM! Just run 53:05 OMG, Reine is terrified 53:28 Let them dance. Then we're gonna go to the Jeremy's study 53:43 What's the jug for? rhetorical question or actual? 54:24 WOW, this is huge! secret passge to the cave. Bye saber, you will not be missed 55:02 Looks safe enough, what do you mean... Why is there a jump up!? 55:23 I don't think so... yes, this is the cave beneath the house Jeremy mentioned in his notebook 55:41 BLESSED SCREAM, DEATH COUNT: 2. Reine fell. That bypasses the cellar, there's an entrance in the cellar, but there's like a snake thing blocking off our path 56:36 Now we passed 57:03 ANJIR! Big snake and birb monster 57:33 DEATH COUNT: 3. Reine, you have to jump Reine thought the character automatically jumped. He died of heart attack

I recommend Phantasmagoria, but due to the brutality in some scenes I don't know if this game can be streamed

Thank you for the final part of Alone In The Dark stream and congratulations for beating the game even with the hard controls and fixed camera angles, Reine!

Mystery of the Druids, Thief, Deus Ex, and Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines would be my suggestions.

Thanks for playing this game! It's always funny to see after all these years because of how scared it made me as a kid, and how goofy all that looks now! As for recommendations, my favorite survival horror game of the past few years was Signalis, it's like a love letter to all the classics and has a crazy brain scrambly story!

Thank u for playing such a gem of a old game Reine!!! Loved the way u got thru it, even with the additional introduction to a Jump movement, no more evil and the house is ours!! I would love seeing u play more retro games that has been left in the dust far too long and need a revival of some sorts My recommendation is a point and click game called: Dracula: The Resurrection... this one brings me back to childhood, in a good way (no trauma ofc 🙂) Have a great weekend now!

Tried to comment right when the stream ended but seems like YT deleted it Thanks for the stream Reine, quick recommendations: 1) Little Big Adventure, pretty different from AITD but the team had the same Lead Developer as Alone in the Dark 1 who left Infogrames after disagreements. They've reformed under a new studio called 2.21 that holds the rights and is working on remakes so getting perms should be easy. 2)Gabriel Knight, plays like the Hob Burrow game you played, first game is set in Louisana like AITD. Good modern-ish urban horror. 3)Mystery of the Druids, a bit goofy but would make for entertaining streams.

Thanks for the stream Reine! I'm going to recommend a more modern game that's got some old school survival horror tendencies...Signalis was a great game with a story that I still think about today, even though I played it quite a while ago. I think some other holos might have streamed it as well, so maybe that makes the whole perms thing a bit easier? Anyways, that's my two cents, thanks as always for everything you do!

Yay more Reine plays Alone in the dark, only now with even more: Angy Reine sounds. Audio drama books. Garbage platforming. And more recently, Reine screaming and saving a lot. Like wow I think Reine will most likely start singing if the game does anymore nonsense as she gets closer to beating it. It is still fun to see her go through this game and the audio books are good to take a nap to, so all is good. Another job playing Reine!

I have two recommendations: Call of Cthulhu: Shadow of the Comet A point and click game where the MC gets sent to Innsmouth to photograph some comets. Lots of lovecraftian type mystery and suspense. I've enjoyed the couple times I've seen it played. Harvester A point and click game where the MC wakes up in the small town of Harvester with amnesia. Set in a parody of Cold War US, you can almost immediately tell that things aren't quite right and have to figure out just what's going on and how to survive it. Very irreverent in nature, lots of mature themes, but mostly it's just going along for the ride that is exploring the town of Harvester.

Thanks for the Alone in the Dark stream! You're getting really good at dealing with the clunky controls in these older (and older-styled) games, big admiration for sticking with it, and your love for this genre is really infectious. Aside from how innovative this game was for its time, I unironically love its nineties-ness, the lore reading sections performed by theater actors going totally ham, and the ending straight out of a 90's movie. I appreciate how tightly paced it is too. It feels like most sections are unique set pieces with special enemies and there's some puzzle element to defeating them, whereas newer games will often pad a bit more with transitional sections where you fight generic enemies. That feels like a marker of its point and click heritage. As far as recommendations I don't have deep pulls but I'll just echo others' recommendation of Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem, whose story and themes feel very directly inspired by Alone in the Dark. It's theatrical Lovecraftian horror with a clever story and a sanity mechanic that surprises you with weird stuff and makes you feel like you're losing it. Sadly it's very hard to play since it was only released on Gamecube, but if you ever happen to get ahold of a Gamecube or Wii it's worth checking out. Other Holomems have played it as well. Second, I remember hearing that Fear Effect was good when it came out, and it's coming to Steam later this year. Planning to check that one out myself. And lastly, you mentioned Elden Ring, even though I know it was just an analogy to explain how you got more comfortable with the gameplay of these older games, so I gotta mention Bloodborne, the gothic and Lovecraftian horror-themed Souls-like. It is an action game, but I also found the atmosphere terrifying the first time I played it. It also uses the difficulty of a Souls-like to create fear the same way as the tank controls and limited supplies in other horror games.

I'd love to see you try Thief Gold, it's a stealth game but has you going through crypts and caves with skeletons and zombies kinda like Tomb Raider. It can be really funny to mess with the NPCs

Fun watch! I always get a kick out of reactions from streamers new to retro games! Some other retro horror recs: System Shock is a creepy remake that pits you against a terrifying AI and her cyborg Mutant slaves. (Steam, remake by NightDive) Night Manor is about exploring a fungus-infested manor while being stalked by a fungal abomination. Shares a little more in common with Clock Tower. (Steam, from the UFO50 compilation) Killing Time: Resurrected is a spooky FPS where you meet live acted ghosts and shoot demonic clowns, cooks and maids. (Steam, remaster by NightDive)

3 games I recommend are Chulip (ps2) its an adventure puzzle game where the goal is to kiss everyone :). Gregory horror show (ps2) which was a board game and Swedish tv show that got made into a game. Also adventure puzzle game ( japanese copies are cheap, English not so much), then 24 killers (pc and steam) is a modern take on games like the other 2. All are very silly

If you want a game from this era I'd say "Gabriel Knight Sins of the Father" is a good choice for you. I've also been wanting to play "Beneath a Steel Sky" for some time because its free. I think I'm in the retro mood to check it out

I couldn't remember the name during the stream, but a suggestion would be "Deadly Premonition", it's a very VERY weird "open world horror" game, but the dialogues are insanely unhinged

Highly recommended retro games to try: - Original RE trilogy. RE1 is very similar to Alone in the Dark. RE2 is more dynamic and action packed, but still feels like a horror! (GoG only) - Deus Ex. Cyberpunk action RPG. Lots of conspiracy. - Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver. Dark fantasy about vampires. The whole franchise is one big crazy story with different timelines. - Max Payne. Noir action with conspiracy and nightmares. - Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth. Detective, survival horror, madness. - Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Already a retro game. Lots of people streamed it back in the days. Classic horror. - Quake. I mean why not? It's a retro action with creepy Lovecraftian stuff ;-D P.S.: - Darkwood. Not a retro, but an amazing spine chilling horror. I think you got the perms, cuz Yopi already played it. - SOMA. Successor to Amnesia.

I think you'd enjoy Secret of Monkey Island as a comedic adventure game. Another holomem played it but I can't recall if she finished. Deus Ex is another big classic. I think you'd really enjoy Haunting Ground, but you'd have to buy unique hardware for that one. Whatever game you choose to play, though, I'll be happy to be along for the ride! I hope you can get Siren perms! That game looks wild!

I wrote it in chat at the very end of the stream, but I'll repeat it here just in case: imo it would be best to have a separate community post for game recommendations. Maybe even more tailored/filtered ones for game genres or themes, should you so deem fitting, e.g. one post for horrors, one for point-and-click adventures and so on, if you think that makes sense and/or expect a lot of suggestions. Definitely it will be slightly more organized than taking screenshots of chat messages or having comments spread across streams (because people will naturally post their recommendations under other streams, too). Give it a thought.
