DMC2 is a game you play for completion purposes. if you like it (as I do) then good for you. if you don't, that's also OK. But not playing a game due to bad reviews doesn't sound right.

check the move list under file>devil arms in the menu for your pause combos, look at the ones for the other weapons while you're in there

If the combat seems a bit familiar, FF16's combat was done by the battle director of DMC V. Clive's lunge attack? It was just Stinger. Titan's parry? Royal Guard. There's others too but they're in later DMC games.

Fun fact, each of the devil trigger forms in DMC3 were created by Atlus illustrator Kazuma Kaneko, who designed the Shin Megami Tensei demons.
