The greenest hell of them all, overcome at last...! With purgatory left behind us, perhaps the grass will look a little greener now as well as this goes down in the history books as the Green Day. Monkey rave EDM partnered with the fantastic Year in Review recap video and changing color schemes set the tone for refreshing our memories and preparing us for survivaliat extravaganza! That floor rotisserie chicken continues to occupy my mind rent free. Started off strong with our protagonist Jake having the most awkward married couple conversation over the walkie talkie ever, how can one man fumble this hard trying to allude to romance and who put that dialogue option into the game in the first place. 😆 Picking it up where we left off, first order of business was to gather water and reach Lambda 2 safely. Making a fire proved difficult for the time being, water was quickly found gathering it through rain pouring into the coconut bowls still left from last time. Riveting content seeing you drink to sustain yourself! Moving into uncharted terriority, we ca,e across the elevator from where we would have to head south-west-ish. What a colorful language from Jake though, that man possesses the tongue of a sailor with how impatient he becomes over a simple fire spark not igniting and then he complains about the smallest issues. Upon descending from the elevator a fight ensued with a warrior, ending in victory on our side but that sure was unexpected! Imitating the armadillo sounds was so cute, loved hearing the usual Betsy noises here and there! And then came the first death via the mountain lion/puma we would cross paths with multiple times. At least no progress was lost as you were getting back into the swing of things! Snakes and leeches having a bite of our jester, worm infestation galore yet the jungle slowly got conquered before it ended unlocking an achievement for getting inflicted with insomnia and every other possible disease. Small victory reading the map, we sallied forth south-west once more until Lambda 2 was reached and shelter built! Worms were truly relentless, settling in each time our hero passed out from exhaustion. Afterwards, energy levels were fine, water stocked up as well and epic music accompanied the march while the nagging feeling haunted us that an old friend in the form of a jaguar might appear. Purple flowers obtained, leeches taken care of, god's most tired soldier gathered the Infinity Worms looking to create bandages for wounds. Here's where the nagging feeling became reality, good old jaguar returned for revenge! Incredibly comedic timing on the following snake bite, you manifested that and the game answered to your silent prayers. Made good headway collecting materials for a water collector woven of liana and banana leaves, we spoke to Mia of our new whereabouts. However, she was suspicious from the get-go, not revealing where she was and what she was even up too... Jaguar returned once more with a vengeance, keeping it at bay down the cliff was a brave move you ended up paying the price for when you decided to go for broke fighting with the spear. o7 Banisteriopsis in our hands, we reloaded the save to cook delicious yumyums and go on a small journey to Jake's office, full of documents on medicine or fauna. It seems a book that he and his wife wrote was not doing as well as they had hoped before the scene suddenly shifted to Mia on a hospital bed. Her words rung deep in our minds, she wanted us to not find her, instead staying safe. The twist that she was a product of our imagination did not seem too far off at this juncture... Going spearfishing, Mr. Krabs' bloodline was accidentally ended although we were able to sing the Campfire Song Song! A Spongebob classic. Insane that you managed to beat that alligator ik a fight to the death; meant plenty of sustenance though! Unfortunate that you were set upon by multiple parasite straight after that small success, dying to byarfing on the puma was comedy gold if you ask me. Happy to hear you've been enjoying Everhood 2 offline! I'd seen gameplay of the first one a long while back and remembered enjoying it quite a bit, good to hear the sequel can keep up the pace at least a little! What a huge ananconda on display as a sign of strength that we found at this camp, your spear throw right through the ghastly man's skull was something else! Unarmed, it looked as if it would be a close fight but out jester triumphed in the end and earned himself a bow as a reward! That is, until the mushroom decided to have a little fun here and there. Thr class was ro reload the save once more, leave the precious fishing rod behind only to quit thr activity forever when giving it a try. Which then led to an airstrip with a radio out of service; fixing it did not take up too much of our time and revealed communication with a man aaking us whether we were with another male colleague instead of our loving wife. Despite help then being on the way, aforementioned wife told us to return home and not worry. Worse, a passenger list amongst all the left behind belongings showed that her name was not on it. Something was definitely off when there were no further responses over the walkie talkie, we've played these games before in Silent Hill 2. Nevertheless, we were able to witness mastery of the bow in a display of top Hanzo gameplay right there! Arriving at C-1, diving equipment carried us through dark waters and had us stumble upon yet another small camp! A document stated Jake was suffering mental issues, whereas the report said the Higgins were on a field trip and all our jungle survivor could talk about was his partner. Eating more ayahuasca took us to memories of the past, where medicine that was created led to an unknown virus outbreak costing many their lives... And we glanced upon a scene of mass graves as well. Out on the field again, a voice message retrieved by someone named Alvarez cursed Jake's name as he tried finding a way out of a cave - to no avail, seeing his skeletal remains on the ground. For one reason or another, Jake was responsible for a tragedy. Nearing the end of our journey, we came back to where it all began. Entering the tribe's village, all was about to be laid bare. Turns out, poor Mia was ill to the point of no return and despite Jake having found a cure it would take its toll 6 months later. She couldn't smell, couldn't breathe and slowly everyone at the corporation became a living, ticking time bomb as the virus spread. Seeking to cure her, he left for Brazil to a tribe holding the secret of eternal health. However, it all spiraled and lead to a catastrophe. Standing before her in the isoliation chamber, it does make you wonder whether it was all worth it...? Sacrificing countless for a cure... Considering there was an option to say yes, it raises the question whether the quest could have been successful without so much loss. If it could have played out differently. Gotta say, did not expect this Silent Hill-esque take on the storytelling but it was quite intriguing with how deep the story went! Wouldn't have seen that coming, enjoyed it thoroughly even if the ending of Jake plummeting into the water was somewhat anticlimactic. It took a speedrun of over 2 years, some banger music but on this day our jester showed Green Hell who was boss! It shall be green no more! Thank you so much for bringing this arc to a conclusion, it was both a pleasure and an honor to come along for the ride and congrats on beating the game!
