In abusive circumstances the enablers often do more damage than the bullies and abusers. If a person is abusive but you've got someone at your back, who also sees it and will stand with you, then you can survive the abuse or escape the abuse. If the person you thought would support you just doesn't really care about the abuse, if they make sympathetic noises but will not do anything, say anything, or even support your perception of reality, that is the person that will destroy you.

On the homeschooling story: haha I was just about to type this when the culprit was revealed. When it was one theft covered up I suspected a certain something. After the other thefts were covered up I switched to suspecting it was the secretary's family (classic tale) but lo and behold it was both.

Everything I know about Communism I learned myself from researching on my own and studying their texts. Any teacher refusing to teach this curriculum about the evils of Communism should be fired from their position and banned from teaching anywhere in the US, and probably charged under the Communist Control Act.

1:28:28 Australia has moderately colourful money and it does not melt in the sun. It also has several very effective, and actually kind of cool, counterfeit-prevention details. I found it funny hearing about the US trialing plastic money several years back; it was like "welcome to the 90s" yet apparently it was far lower quality than Australia had decades ago, including the aforementioned melting issues.

It's litearlly the grift of the holographic girlfriend from Blade Runner 2049: you by the cheaper at-home model that's limited to the ceiling mount, and then *_'gift her_*_ the expensive upgrade she's _*_SO EXCITED_*_ about'_ that will let her 'move more freely' as in *track and listen to every movement you make and word you say, archive it to the company server, and digitally respond to it.*

4:26:39 the longer my son is alive, the more I hate people like this. It makes it so much worse imagining them doing it to him specifically. Also, I really don't understand the compulsion to breastfeed. I have to be careful as it is because my son is a little crab sometimes, and he can pinch surprisingly hard for someone with such tiny hands. Not fun. Gonna have to work on that when he can understand what "no" and "ouch" means.

All the talk about Hispanics not speaking English here reminds me of a co-worker from years ago at Walmart. The city had a huge Hispanic population, and it was common for us to have to page for a translator if they needed assistance. We had this one particular sweet old Hispanic lady that would come over and ask the customer in Spanish if they could speak English. You would be surprised how often they would answer, also in Spanish, that they could. She would then tell them, in English, that they can talk to me directly and then go back to her regular duties. If someone genuinely couldn't speak English, or just had trouble with it, then she didn't mind helping out. She just had zero tolerance for the ones that wanted to be lazy or didn't want to speak with us white folk.

If I go to a restaurant, I look at the menu, see what it costs, and I know that that is what I will have to pay at the end; tipping culture messes with that, and I don't understand why Americans are ok with this for the exact reason that Kirsche explains about sales tax. When buying things that have a sales tax, I do exactly the same thing because the listed price must be inclusive of tax, to do otherwise would be deceptive advertising. So the prices would go up, but it wouldn't impact the browsing experience.
