the point of forgiveness in Christianity is not to permit or otherwise allow for evil. forgiveness does not mean you stop seeking justice. it's to avoid becoming consumed by anger and vengeance. it's all too easy to become a vindictive POS no better than those you hate.

As a Christian we see things in a more macro way. Life is temporary and our suffering here isn’t permanent. Though I’ve always seen it as you washing your hands of them and letting God and the law handle them while not letting what they did weigh on your own soul.

Forgiving and seeking justice dont have to be separate. If someone wrongs you, you have every right to seek legal retribution, but after that, forgiving should follow to allow yourself to heal and hopefully let the other person turn from evil.
