Don't worry about getting glued on your first run, that's expected! You'll do far better with every run. This game actually simulates horse breeding to an extent, in addition to training and racing. What that means is that you're expected to not just raise, but create the next generation of champions, using your existing horses. Just like in real horse breeding, you grab your best horses with the traits you want, and you use them as the Legacy to enhance the power and skills of the horse girl you want to train. In other words, your results will get better and better, the more you train and raise the girls in your stable. Your support card deck, with improvement and refinement, increases your training results, and if you use a good Friend List umamusume as the mare (pink = mother), and your Wedding Mayano, you'll likely be able to win the next run. I recommend actually training another horse girl instead of Mayano, and once that horsegirl becomes a decent legacy uma, use her to enhance your Mayano's next run. I personally started with 2 stars like Super Creek and Daiwa Scarlet, as they're much easier to train and have good skills to pass down.
