損得勘定 (sontoku kanjou) means making decisions based on how much you'll benefit (or lose) from something. It has its specific usages (a lot in business setting i guess) but it's not commonly used :D

If you use sontoku kanjou you will realize that gambling for profit is always a bad idea. (For fun is fine of course... if you know when to stop... which is surprisingly difficult sometimes)
