Missed this one due to a fatal case of "needing to sleep". Auric next time? :)

Just for future reference: In gaming/network, we call that effect you underwent where you "tether" to an action or position "rubber-banding" because it feels like being held by a rubber band that pulls you back once you get too far. Exactly HOW it manifests is different from game to game, because it depends on what actions are run on the server (the remote computer you connect to) versus the client (your PC). Darktide specifically seems to take every action like swining a sword and wait for a reply that the action is "valid" from the server before actually executing is, which is why it would get stuck in animations (weapon swapping, casting Soulblaze), because your client is waiting for a reply from the server that the action is valid and complete. Your character snapping to various positions is due to the Server being unable to establish consistent movement inputs because packets containing that data were lost. To make sure you don't end up in an invalid position, it either takes your last known position, or last direction, and puts you where it *thinks* your character belongs, then forces your client to that position.

Jo, Aia, just had a thought- if your connection gets weaker when your PC is hot or under stress, it might be an issue of either your network card overheating, or, more likely, the CPU throttling power to the card in an effort to cool down. Alternatively, if its not just your CPU, but your Power Supply Unit overheating, it could be forcing peripherals like the Network Card and Mouse to go to low power to maintain CPU and GPU voltage. There's also been recent probelms with ISPs pushing bad updates to routers which have memory leaks.
