The "counters" to planes in BF1 are vastly inferior to the planes themselves. And they often require players to sit around doing nothing fun or or otherwise useful hoping a plane gets within reach of them. And the "counters" often required multiple players to have to put sustained focus fire on one single plane. And planes being able to insta-heal made them so strong a pilot had to be extremely stupid and careless to die to the counters very often. The counters like AA guns could also be taken out by planes faster than the counter could kill the plane. Let's be honest the "counters" were deliberately weak, stationary/boring, and required multiples of players to coordinate simultaneously and over a sustained period to have any hope to be effective, respawned slowly or not at all and could themselves be easily taken out by any pilot with a bare minimum IQ.
