Unless it's Sandbox mode, those zombies are smart, they will continue to stalk you, open doors, sneak into your cars. I think you died from carrying too much, being stressed out because of the banging, knocking, being near zombies and getting sick from their bodies, night terrors, covered in blood and eating rats, it really, really affected your ability to heal and fight. Rosewood and Riverside are better for new players. Firefighter gear is the heaviest 'armor' in game, great protection but makes you uncomfortably hot and sweaty. Destress by reading.
