The Let's Play format and the lack of loading and ending screen feels oddly nostalgic, takes me back to the older days of YouTube Happy to revisit this amazing game with your playthroughs, and hope smooth sailing on the trip and events. Thanks for the stre- i mean video

Turning it into a prerecorded let's play was a brilliant idea. Love seeing my vtuber paying attention to the game properly and taking time figuring it out. Also seeing how your loot goblin nature makes you explore every nook and cranny on the map just makes my heart melt. That just hits home so much

A proper, chat free, Let’s Play style video in 2026? You know what, HELL YEAH.

I missed this kind of let's play content with the player just absorbing the game at their own pace without chat spoiling things or distracting. It's so peaceful, especially for a game like this.

The way you decided to go about this is great, honestly. I understand some might not be a fan of it being prerecorded, but I enjoyed it a lot. After all, I don't watch for chat insomuch as watch I watch /you/. I really look forward to your next uploads for Portal 2, I can't wait to see your "Aha!" moments for some of the upcoming chambers!

To answer some questions and provide some context! As the resident lore keeper! Portal 1 came out in 2007, originally only available through the Orange Box. A collection of Valve games including Half Life 2 and episodes, and Team Fortress 2. Portal 2 came out in 2011. Since Portal 1 was made on a budget and more so as a test of concept, it was almost entirely made with reused Half Life 2 assets. But because of the critical acclaim and success of One, Two was given the budget and dev time to create a unique Source Engine build and custom assets. Which is why, despite sharing the same engine, it lacks that Source Engine *look* that other valve games from the same time carry. (Left 4 Dead, TF2, CS:GO). It has also arguably aged far better than its counterparts. The only asset I could tell was reused was the train horn jumpscare. It is the same train horn sound effect used in HL2. You noticed it at the beginning, but fun fact!! A good handful of the other early test chambers are also Portal 1 test chambers! It's pretty obvious what the differences would be, in that Portal 2's versions have overgrown greenery and are dilapidated. But what even experienced players might not have noticed is, when you wake up GladOS and she puts you in the incinerator, you fall through a recreation of the final cutscene in Portal 1 (the one that leads you to the cake), and the room you fall into is the incinerator room you "broke free", just without any of the fire, and the test chamber before it!!! The first test chamber she has you do was the LAST test chamber you "officially" did!! You just complete it backwards and all the nasty water gone!!It's why you find this sign ( 37:59 ) saying Chamber 19/19 at the end of the room! Another thing. In the test chamber with the companion cube where GladOS says she trusts you to not take it with you despite the broken emancipation field. There's two ways of doing it that I can think of, but the likely intended way of bringing the cube with you was through the hallway walls before the elevator. They were white, so it was possible for you to place a portal, grab the companion cube, and get back to the hallway via a second placed portal. If you are curious as to what would've happened if you did do this, GladOS would forcefully disintegrate the cube right before you enter the elevator, and given you special dialogue that essentially just makes fun of you. LAST THING! I promise! You're not crazy. Portal 2 DOES have a bunch of loading screens. But I think you will grow to find em a bit cute later on. It was likely a common complaint during playtesting, so Valve has some fun with it to prevent monotony since the engine likely needs hard stop load screens like it. ALL OF THIS ASIDE! Part 1 was very fun! It was uniquely nostalgic. It's been so long since I've seen a playthrough this raw. Little to no editing, no cuts. Cute commentary. I'm a huge fan of Valve's games, but Half Life and Portal, specifically, I was OBSESSED with as a kid. It might be part one only, but I'm already very excited!! If it wasn't apparent. I'm excited to see what you've got in store for us Boss! Also sorry for 'ing out like CRAZY. PS - You mentioned you were enjoying the soundtrack. The sound track is great! I love it! But if you are interested, Valve does sell it and have it available for streaming! The Album soundtrack for 2 goes by the name Songs to Test By. Very funny name if you ask me.

Honestly, iv missed the classic lets play style editing. Now its either long as streams where you gotta deal with alerts and chat distractiong them, or high speed adhd edits.

This was so fun Minto! You're a natural 'Let's-Player'. I did kinda miss being able to chat, but for a game like this so rich in dialogue and little details, there's never a dull moment watching you experience all of it on your own.

Nice job Minto!!! Congrats on solving every puzzle with ease!! Also, you carried yourself really well in this video, it honestly almost felt like a normal stream!! For a first attempt at a pre recorded video, I'd say you did amazing!!! I'm looking forward to the rest of the series!!

I love that there were a few times she asked a question as if we were present to answer. She missed us! Thank you, past Minto, for a pretty productive portal-poppin' start to your Portal 2 adventure! Watching you play puzzle games is fun since I'm, unfortunately, a dummy at puzzle games and you have a bigger brain for these kinds of games. I always like watching the cogs move.

I love Portal 2, I love revisiting it sometimes so thank you Minto! Even though this is your first time doing a lets play you did amazing and I can't wait for the rest of the series. Also regarding the loading screens, there was a "loading screen" after each area on Portal as well, it was just much less noticeable because if anything did show up it was was just a flash of a grey box that said "Loading", they didn't do the full screen.

I have never clicked on a video so fast! Two of my favorite things, Portal 2 and Minki. Humming along to the Portal 1 radio is cuteness overload. 19:00 The math is quantum mechanics, specifically Heisenberg's uncertainty principle and Schrodinger's equation. And of course, a picture of his famous cat.
