For the paintings I wonder if there is a letter(s) difference from one painting to the other. That letter may be the intended info clue? Rod - road adds an a. Crow - row loses c. Tie - tier (stand thing) adds r.... Idk just puzzling alongside. Edit: An hour or so in it seems my theory was confirmed. Yippee
