Even before I really understood what was happening I started crying. The gameplay where you're "assisted" really got to me and I just kept crying harder as it progressed. This is such a beautiful game and I'm so glad you played it and shared it with us. Games like this really do kinda bludgeon you emotionally, but it's good to get tenderized every now and then. Too often we find ourselves in this rigid state, hardened and jaded by countless tragedies on the news, so much that we don't allow ourselves to connect with them emotionally and sink into the sorrows that make life beautiful. I feel like a very soft and well shaped gingerbread doughboy at the moment and I'm grateful.

Thank you for playing this game. It meant a lot to me! I never really share personal stuff here, but this time I want to. My grandpa, who I was very close to, had a stroke quite a few years ago. From there, his memory worsened slowly, until he began falling more and more and forgetting his home and my grandma, too. It became really hard to visit him, they lived around a 2 hour drive away from me. When I did visit, he mostly just sat in his big armchair, and I would hold his hand. We sat in silence for hours, me making silly faces at him every now and then to make him smile. Raising my eyebrows weirdly, and he would raise them back. I don't know if he knew who I was at that point, but it didn't matter...I loved him so, so much. Eventually, my grandma couldn't take care of him at home anymore, he would get angry and scared and she was too old herself to be safe, had her own struggles. Even in his care home, I would make my silly faces, and he would do them back. That was our way of communication. He passed away during the pandemic (but not because of it), and this game reminded me of how wonderful of a grandpa he was. My grandma now lives in a home too, and she has her moments of forgetfulness...but when I visit she says she's happy, and that she speaks to grandpa a lot (we gave her a big picture of him), so I'm glad, even if she can't place who I am. Thank you, again, for giving this game space, for bringing it to life with your beautiful narration, Vox. I'm so grateful you are here please, take care of yourself. Eat well, and much love.

Thank you for opening up about that, Milord. My grandpa went through dementia too and passed away later. Caregiving was honestly exhausting and heartbreaking. I’ve always worried I’d end up being a burden and hurting the people I love if it happened to me. But you really lifted us up tonight and made us feel loved and cared for. As someone who’s been a caregiver, I can’t thank you enough.

Thanks for the stream, Milord. I joined in late when you were live, but I have watched the VOD and I'm crying my eyes out. The way this game depicts how much a person's normal functions deteriorate from dementia was very well done. When the whole handwashing bit happened, it forced me to think that it's just as frustrating for her to be struggling with it as it is for someone who has to watch her struggle. This disease is like some psychological hell for people who have it, and I hope and pray that it can be cured someday. No one should have to go through this or watch someone they know and love go through it.

I didnt expect this game to make me cry like a baby, but it did! Its a really beautiful game and im happy that you played it. Personally the theme hits close to home in a way and the way they handled it was really good. And i just want to say thank you for your words at the end, I haven't been in a good mindset for a couple of days but thank you for reminding me of the people and things I hold very dearly in my heart in this world. VOD gang here (kind of). I knew nothing about this game but I woke up to see the TWs and kindred talking about it. My dad has dementia and it’s the hardest thing I’ve had to deal with thus far—so much so I seldom talk about it. I’ll admit now knowing what the game is about I’m not sure I can bring myself to watch the full playthrough, just out of my own peace of mind. But I listened to your words at the end. First game I’ve cried over in a while. I was raised christian and my great grandmother had dementia, I was always very close to her. She used to let me sit on her walker and she’d take me all over the house, but later on she got worse. She began getting angrier and she stopped remembering a lot of things, she would yell at us when we tried to pet her dog or if I asked her to take me around the house on her walker. My great grandmother was eventually put in a home and we rarely saw her, but we saw her on her 94th birthday. I remember walking in and the air felt so different, she looked at me and thought I was my mother even though I was only 12 at the time. She asked when her parents were getting there and I remember the entire room went silent. I miss her a lot, she passed away 6 years ago and she used to be my best friend. I just felt helpless that I couldn’t do anything to help her with remembering things

Thank you for playing this game today. It reminded me of my grandma who is currently going through the same thing except she doesn't have her husband to rely on anymore, plus the illness made her even more stubborn than before, so it's been really difficult for my family to take care of her. I cried a lot watching you play and I'll most likely cry again thinking about it in the coming days. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us and always taking the time to remind us that everyone here is always loved. You're always loved as well. Thank you so much for everything.
